After picking apart the

After picking apart the Jay/Oprah interview, you guys have to see the online video of her audience's reaction to it. When I saw it right after the show aired, I wanted to pull my hair out after listening to some of these people's reactions! A couple of them had good points, but you just have to watch this video to see for yourselves. Here's the link: http://www.oprah.com/oprahshow/Oprah-Talks-About-the-Tonight-Show-Video

Thanks guys for putting on an entertaining podcast!

It was nice to hear a new

It was nice to hear a new podcast DROP from the gang. I like the CAEE feel overall better than the KPFK podcast, but I listen to both anyway so when I get only one I feel like I lost out on something. I stumbled onto this podcast around episode 3 or 4 and have been stuck on u guys ever since (even though matt felt the need to say that he hasn't seen a dime of my money) Interestingly enough, I subscribed to the 'cast because of Todd. I liked him on on Last Comic Standing. Its funny to notice how different the show can be without him and still be very very funny. I think it goes to show how funny each person is in their own right. I also agree with Matt on his stance on Leno, I'm completely done with him, it would be nice to see him be funny again but it'll never happen.

It felt great to get back in

It felt great to get back in the saddle and do a CAEE!  Glad you liked it. thanks for listening!

Just wanted to say that I

Just wanted to say that I love the podcast but didn't fall in love with all of the Jay hate today.  I can't say I am a huge fan of either Jay or Conan but do respect them both for their own unique abilities to make people laugh.

I think the Oprah Q&A says it all.  Oprah recognizes that none of it is Jay's fault, it is NBC (Zucker) who made all of the shitty decisions.  Jay was doing what he loved, was extremely successful at it, and didn't want to stop.  Then 5 years ago Conan  threatened to jump ship if they didn't promise to give him the tonight show (Jay Leno's job) in 5 years.  Jay puts his best face forward announcing everything 5 years ago, maybe a little shaken and defeated and maybe believing that the network was making the correct choice, maybe he would slip over the next 5 years? Should Jay instead have said 5 years ago that he didn't want to leave his show but has been informed that that was the deal because Conan wanted his job so he should just suck it up?

You may think that Jay sucks as a talk show host/comedian but the network believes differently and acted accordingly.  The attacks at Jay seem to come from a place of anger and emotion, true he disappointed you as a comedian but he is not a monster.  Does Conan even fit the bill for you or is it just important to be on the anti-Jay side?  You made no mention that Conan is really funny and good at his job that he deserves to take the time-slot.

I agree with Oprah on this one, that Zucker made some big mistakes and mishandled the whole situation.  Jay has no responsibility to leave a show that he loves doing because someone else wants his time-slot, that will typically be the case when you are doing something interesting and it pays well.

Btw, who cares about the name of a show, give people quality content and they will tune in.

Marty,   I think You missed

Marty,

I think You missed my point about jay, and I think it was  stated pretty  clearly on the show.

I even said on the show that it is fine if jay did all the things people are charging him with, it doesn't make him a monster, or even an asshole.  but the thing that got me is how he had to completely lie about everything. That is what  i was emphasizing.  It was His completely duplicitous nature that he revealed so clearly is what got to me.

I loved the show today!  Now

I loved the show today!  Now I understand the whole Conan - Leno thing better.  I hadn't watched the Tonight Show for 15 years until last year when Conan took it over.  Then it became good again.  I always watched Letterman when I was in high school and college, then pretty much stopped when I got a job that required my getting up at 5 AM.

Thanks especially for saying my name with great emphasis at the end... if I win a mega lottery, or if some currently unknown family member dies and leaves me a fortune, I will donate so much money to C&EE that you might even ask me for my suggestions about guests, topics, etc.  Until then, I am very happy to leave it all up to you!

Keep up the great work!  (By the way, maybe David Feldman would be a C&EE guest, and you could get him to reveal details about how he's such a disappointment to his wife and embarassment to his children.)  Just an idea, not a suggestion or criticism.  :)
