Hey, just started the new

Hey, just started the new podcast. I was excited for it all day. Just wanted to say that I'm totally with Todd in that I treat the podcast like an event. I get myself something to eat and a bottle of water and listen and laugh in bed. Thanks you guys.

I put my dog to sleep a few months ago. I had him since I was 2 and I'm 22 now, so he was really old. It probably should've been done years ago, but it is just so hard.. and I know that you talk about being selfish in your decision and that was part of what was hard. He was REALLY annoying at the end.. haha.. that sounds horrible, but someone had to help him do everything.. and I just wanted to make sure that I didn't want to put him to sleep to make things easier for myself. Anyway.. you get it.. It was just an interesting topic and I appreciate it.

My boyfriend and I also make Comedy and Everything Else an event. I actually DID make tea and was eating dry cheerios while listening tonight.. It is very much an event for us. And please god, Todd, get your own tv show where you discuss social issues! And you can hit Jimmy's parents over the head with a bottle! Or anyone else who says something you disagree with.. I'll smile from ear to ear.

Stefane should listen to Skipper Dan. It's Weird Al's new song about a Jungle Cruise employee at Disneyland!

No more music in the background. It's distracting. That sounds bitchy, but it just honestly distracts me.. each time it happens, I realize that I've been listening to the song and ignoring the conversation for the last 2 minutes.. and I looovvee the conversation. The people on their treadmills can download a 70s mix if they need energy.

    I love Matthew.. He;s hilarious.

Oh yeah, and Jason Nash is a douchebag.. I can't believe I forgot to say that before.

Family and friends who have different dreams will never quite understand what the accomplishments mean. When companies ask to use my photos or I shake hands with an act at a concert I photograph, I'm over the moon with joy, but a friend who spends their day selling pants at The Gap wouldn't necessarily have a similar frame of reference.

Similarly, when you all decide I'm the best guy on earth to help work on your site, I'll be so proud but people who don't know the greatness of the show will just say "You work on sites all day."

Trying to analogize with people to re-frame it for their work or experiences doesn't tend to work well. At best you end up with them half-interested in something you're really excited about.

Every time Todd tells the story about putting his dog to sleep it depresses the shit out of me for the rest of the day. When he asked Jimmy, "have I told this story before", you could soooooo tell Jimmy was lying about not having heard it. Next time could Steph, Jimmy, or Matt please say, "Yes, Episode 22. It was harrowing then and it's harrowing now!"

Seriously. I'm at work now and I need to run home and hug my dogs. Thanks Todd.

But seriously, the podcast was lots of fun, we all laughed, drank lots of tea, and we loved it!

Great episode. Matthew's Universal Studios Tour impression might have been the best part.

Very sympathetic about family not being supportive of the arts. I am in a band and my dad thinks that I am wasting my time. He wants me to have "normal" soul-sucking office job because that's what is comfortable to him. I am the only one in the band that will never have my parents at a show, which is fine with me. I've learned to accept it.

Keep up the good work with the podcast. It alleviates a little of the soul-sucking part of my boring office job.

I was so touched my your plea not let your pets suffer in old age that I went ahead and put mine to sleep so I wouldn't have to make that terrible decision when she's no longer a puppy.

Have you guys seen the commercial for Mozy online backup? I just saw it.. There's this jerk talking on the phone and he nearly gets smashed by a flaming washer falling from the sky. It immediately reminded me of bottle discipline. THEN the song started playing.. the song you guys play in your bottle discipline videos after you hit someone. Is this a coincidence or was one inspired by the other?

This was a great episode. Jimmy really put himself out there by talking about his dad. It's one thing to tell people you don't know what you think, but telling them how you feel is another ball of wax.

    =====================================

As far as Todd repeating himself, he mentioned his 150 ride-alongs again.

Purely from a comedic perspective, Todd would be great in the back of a cruiser if his "hosts" needed to apprehend a suspect.

Todd (sitting in the back of the cruiser as the suspect is placed beside him): Hey...

    Suspect: Hey...

Todd: I just want to preface that I am not a criminal, but just because I am not a criminal doesn't mean I can't give you some advice. Try...not...to..get..fuck...ing...caught.

    Suspect: you don't say...

Todd: I know you think I don't have a right to say anything, but I have given crime a lot of thought. It's like saying if I had a girlfriend who shoplifted I couldn't tell her not to get caught. Well you know what? NOHHH! YOU DON'T GET TO MAKE THAT CALL, YOU FUCKING FUCK FUCK!

    Suspect: huh?

Todd: I have been on 149 other ride-alongs--and killed my childhood dog-- this is nothing.

Suspect (to the cops): Do I need to stay back here with this guy?

Todd: I'll be quiet (looking at his watch). Hmm...I need to meet my friends Kathy Griffith and Andy Griffin for a late dinner. I have to use the restroom, but I can probably wait and use the safilities at the restaurant. What did they pinch you for anyway?

Suspect: They think I killed Harvey Levin.

Todd (grabbing the suspect by the head): Come here, you. Let me give you a hug. Thank you. I hate that fucking fabisina...

Todd (distracted, notices a bag of ice oatmeal cookies on the dashboard): Hey, have you guys ever considered taking the cookies out of the bag and placing them on a nice plate to get a feeling like maybe a grandmother just bake...

(the car veers into a tree with the sound of screeching brakes conspicuously absent)

Comedy isn't for your family and rarely for your friends. Comedy is for strangers. You've designed an act that speaks to people you don't know and it doesn't makes sense to those close to you. They know you in a different more intimate way and things you can say to them you'd never say onstage, the same is true in reverse.

A father (with some exceptions) isn't going to find their son's comedy funny. He's been trying to stop you being a foul mouthed wise ass your whole life and can't shut that off. A son doing stand up is like seeing your daughter in Playboy, it doesn't matter how many other people are enjoying it, it's never going to work for you.

I woke up this a.m. in disbelief that it's only Wednesday ... and then I remembered that Todd taped "Jordan, Jesse GO!" last night. I only caught the 2nd half of the live stream, but it's already on iTunes this a.m. This makes my day ... maybe my week!

You guys are a frieggin' riot. I have to be honest... I haven't made "comedy and everything else" an event yet, but I do re-listen to the podcasts all the time. I listen at work (No Todd, not on the treadmill) ...and your podcast really let's me forget about the "work crap" and instead, let's me have some fun.

And Jimmy... I was going to try and give you some "well, some families show love in different ways" or "it's just a generational thing" to describe your family's lack of support for what you do... but I really think it's just basic personality traits that your parents share. They don't seem to have any manners or tact. They can regurgitate the things to their children that they know they should ("Say please and thank you", "Don't cut in line", "Don't masturbate too much." "We mean it Jimmy, stop masturbating so much" ...etc.) ...But when it comes to things they have to do on their own, they get stuck. Showing interest in your child's passion/career even when you don't agree with it seems "normal", but not to people that just don't know better. I don't know your parents and I could be way off here... but I know people that are basically clones of their parents for no other reason than... it's all they knew. Maybe your grandparents gave your parents the "guidebook" and you parents are just behaving like their parents did.

Alright... the "Dr. Phill" moment is over.

Keep making these damn podcasts. You guys are all hilarious and I look forward to more of the same. I understand that growth is part of this and you're going to change things when you need to keep it fresh or to not get bored... but you guys have a formula that works... Keep up the great work. (I just made that phrase up... "Keep up the great work." ...Think people will use it?)

The next podcast you guys make... I'll make a "night" of it. I won't listen to it at work. I'll stop on the way home to grab a bottle of wine... I'll put on some some tunes on in the background... throw on the podcast and have a good time.

I'm most upset that nobody called Stef on her enjoyment of the Jungle Cruise. I saw that when I was 13 and it was the worst part of Disney, period. Huge letdown. Matthew's Tour was hilarious.
