Hell's yes, looks like
Hell's yes, looks like there's gonna be a funny comedian clusterf**ck happening today. Looks like a short one, but can't complain, it's free and I appreciate that!

On last night's Daily Show, Jon Stewart mispronounced Obama's name exactly like Jimmy does. Did they both get it from the same place...or is Stewart a listener? Just wondering.

Good show. On the heckler topic.
It's an unnatural situation to put someone in, having them at a comedy show. You give them permission to laugh at shocking things that polite society wouldn't normally talk about. They come from the office or home with the family both places where you have to watch what you say and laugh at, go to the club and it's Donkey Island. You drink (sometimes you're forced to buy at least 2 drinks) and the social constraints are thrown off. You can laugh and hoot and cheer but at some point at comedian is going to say something you strongly disagree with. And then you're NOT allowed to respond with anything but polite silence or they'll come after you.
The comedian can say anything, the audience can say nothing unless spoken to and even then they'll probably be made fun of. And then they've got to take it.
It's like if someone went to a strip club for the first time and wasn't told all the rules of not touching the dancer. Had no idea how things worked. The dancer gets them all worked up and things are going to happen. Same with a comedian.
Sounds like Louis CK really went about handling it the right way.

I thought TMZ was a terrible idea from the moment someone explained the premise of the show to me. It sounded like a 22-minute video version of the truly vapid sections of National Enquirer or Star Magazine. It's that weird star-fucker perversion society has in tearing down celebrities to its Dollar Menu, workaday, comatose-in-front-of-the-tv level.
I just wanted to add that Stef's great, Jimmy's great, Todd is especially great, but at the same time you all suck and should try working for a living.
Love the show.

Boy did I have Hardwicke pegged wrong. I was one of the people that thought he was just another ex MTV dildo that didn't have the good sense and/or common decency to leave the stage. Was I ever wrong. He's funny and quick and smart. I hope his new show is as good.

wow, I like Jimmy alot, but he really doesn't like Christians. I'm a Catholic, we do lots of activities for social justice, hunger, anti-war, the church gives millions and millions to charity - our Church is very multi-cultural, but according to Jimmy and Todd we don't exist. According to them, Moderate Christians are to blame for bigotry and intolerance. I still love this show, but this particular podcast defined intolerance and ignorance.

Sorry to post twice but while it's nice the Catholic church does all those things they've also done the opposite of everything you just mentioned in the past. A lot of blood has been spilled, children harmed and money stolen in the name of your faith. Currently they're trying to block good information on AIDS prevention and are against gay people having the same rights as straights. I'm sure in a couple of hundred years the Catholic Church will change its mind on that too but we don't have that kind of time to wait.
What does a club have to do to get you to drop your membership?

I don't want to start a whole thing about religion and what not because this is hardly the place, but (what I think) they were saying is that the "moderates" who are essentially harboring these nut-jobs at both ends of the extreme in politics, such as these people supporting the killing of abortion doctors are not doing enough to say, "Hey, I know this guy who says some crazy stuff about killing doctors to save babies and I know he's got a large collection of propaganda and ammo, maybe someone should look in his closet" or something like this, basically there are people who are closer to things like this occurring and aren't making a move to oust them from their dark little corners of the world. Personally, I live free of Religious idealism (except when it's pushed upon me living in the "bible belt" with it's silly closing down of businesses early on Sunday) so I don't know any extremists on either side, besides driving past the Abortion clinic on Sundays and giving distasteful looks to the protesters with their overly exaggerated anti-choice posters. But, good on you for your activism J.T. I do the same just without the religious part, donating food and clothing or money to the homeless or underprivileged doesn't have to include a quote from the old testament just a little of your own time.

Thanks Goody! And Ian your point is well taken regarding the unsavory things the Catholic Church has been a part of, whether it's the past or present. It's something that Practicing Catholics, like myself, work on and think about on a constant basis. If I can sum up my position as a Catholic, I'd say that Catholics like myself who are Democrat (BTW, Obama won the Catholic vote 53-47) would say that Catholicism is OUR religion, not the religion of guys who say Priests can't marry or anybody who is pro-choice is automatically going to hell. While we may not be in positions of power in our church, in many ways we are the majority. I really believe in my heart that my faith is something very genuine to me, and thought the podcast was so one-sided. I've heard more sermons in my Washington, DC Catholic church that were pro-gay rights than anti-gay rights. I'll say that again: I've heard more sermons in my Washington, DC Catholic church that were pro-gay rights than anti-gay rights. I just wish that Jimmy and Todd could give some validity to that viewpoint then just a lazy: "All Christians are bad"

John,
I am glad that the people in your catholic church are not on board with the Catholic Church. One more time. I am Glad that the people in your church are not on board with the Catholic Church.
Th Catholic Church is anti gay (unless you are a priest and molest a child, then its kind of ok), the Catholic Church is very anti women.
Let me say that again: The POPE, you know, the Leader of your religion, is ANTI GAY and Anti WOMEN. The Catholic Church is ANTI-GAY, ANTI-WOMEN.
Why would you want to put your name on a sign up sheet for an organization like that?
Those are two facts, now you can pretend that those things don't matter, but they do.
Thanks for listening, we couldn't do it without you.
